К таким бумагам относятся первоклассные ценные бумаги (gilt-edges securities), облигации (bonds), привилегированные акции (preference shares) и долговые обязательства (debentures); поскольку они являются менее рисковыми, чем просто акции (equities), их возможности в плане прироста капитала меньше. Однако нередко они приносят большие доходы (yield), чем акции. Движение цен на бумаги с фиксированным процентом обычно обратно общему уровню ставки процента, что отражает изменения стоимости фиксированных доходов по ним относительно рыночной конъюнктуры. Ценные бумаги с фиксированным процентом являются особенно невыгодным вложением в периоды высокой инфляции, поскольку их стоимость не корректируется на рост цен.
